Everyone loves a good basketball game, fans and players alike. Many athletes are pumped for a game, but are not sure how to get ready for it. Without preparing for a game, you could find yourself at the jump and still warming up, while the other team is hot and ready to start! Luckily, game preparation is easy and can be done in three simple steps:
- Settle your mind. Everything starts mentally. If you are nervous and tense, you may not be as effective on the court. Try listening to music that pumps you up, or have a chat with a teammate about what you are going to do in the game.
Get ready physically. This is one of the most important steps, so make sure you do it right! Stretch slowly and DON’T BOUNCE, or you may pull something.
Make sure your team is ready.This is also essential,because a team that plays around too much before the game is usually the losing team. Take warm-up seriously; the fun comes in the game. If you have team captains,or ARE the team captain, make sure they are leading stretches, setting a good example, etc.
