US authorities said today that members of hacker group LulzSec were arrested and charged with crimes.
Six hackers in the United States and abroad carried out several online attacks and stole credit card numbers and other confidential information from major companies, like Sony Pictures Entertainment, Fox Broadcasting Company etc.
According to authorities, the organization’s ringleader, Hector Xavier Monsegur, who pleaded guilty in August to a variety of criminal charges, co-operated in investigation with the FBI.
28 year-old Monsegur, also known as Sabu, was a member of hacking organizations, such as Anonymous, Internet Feds and Lulz Security that were responsible for causing billions of dollars in damage to government, international banks and corporations, according to the court.
After the FBI unmasked Monsegur last June, he began secretly working as an FBI informant.
