There are plenty of online businesses that manage their own copywriters, but writing copy online is entirely different from those written in magazines, newspapers and other publications. It would be very helpful for your copywriters if you were able to help them improve their skills by providing them with tips on how they can optimize web copy for internet marketing purposes, and for the entire online audience as well. Here are some tips for beginners and copywriters who are working on optimizing their website. There are plenty of search engine optimization strategies that are being used nowadays and everyone has varied opinions and ideas about ways to improve your page rank.

Seek the appropriate balance for optimizing your web pages based on targeted keywords, and make sure that the pages are also maximized from the user and search engine perspective. There is definitely no point in attracting traffic to a site that won’t convert at all.

Title tags. These words may not be seen, per se, on a webpage, but they are often considered the most vital in terms of their role in site optimization. Google established a cutoff point of 65 characters so aim for that number. Make sure to have your title tags targeted towards your essential key phrases or key words. Don’t forget to insert keywords on the tags. You may also consistently brand title tags.

Meta Tags. The Description Meta tag is often considered the ‘result snippet’ for every time your site gets listed on search engines. Place keywords in your Meta tags and highlight them. Write in such a way that will entice users to click on your Meta tag. Clearly describe its landing page and add a sort of ‘call to action’ statement so users will know that to do in and on your site.

Headings. Indicate one h1 heading for every page to put more emphasis on the embedded keywords for that page. Try to synchronize your headings with your title tags just to make sure your main terms gets targeted as efficiently as it can. You can use h2 to h5 headings for maximizing secondary keywords and use them as subheadings. Webpage content should possess unique headings and title tags.

Internal links. Internal links, or Interlinks, help build strength for your pages within many search engines. Add these links when you think your site has additional information regarding a certain topic. However, it is important not to overdo these links. Link only related keywords instead of words like ‘learn more’ or ‘click here’.

Keyword Content Usage. Your initial paragraph should always contain your primary keyword aside from using it in the heading and title tags. Make sure you also bold or italicize important keywords. You may also want to include keyword-descriptive alternative tags. Keywords and keyword variations should be used at least 3 to 5 times.

Keyword Density. Having 0 percent keyword density or stuffing content with too many keywords makes your webpage unreadable. A five percent keyword density is good enough, but having them placed in the footer or navigation section makes them no better at all. Optimizing keywords means listing them in the right sections such as headings, title tags, etc.

Images. Maximize your web images with targeted keywords by taking advantage of the ‘alt’ attribute. Naming your pictures according to your keywords will help improve your searches for Google Images.

Always remember: quality content is king, so make sure you don’t waste all those words on nothing. By following this guide, you will help to optimize your WebPages’ content, attract more traffic to your site, and enhance your search engine marketing efforts.
